SODALES is organising a workshop in conjunction with the EU H2020 project FIWIN5G to be held at UCL, London in February 2016.
Hold the date as we provide you with more details!
SODALES paper will be presented by Jordi Ferrer Riera at the IEEE Globecom 2014 workshop on Wireless optical network convergence in support of cloud architectures in December 2014. Our paper is entitled “Software-defined wired-wireless access network convergence: the SODALES approach”, and will describe the latest results emerging from the EU FP7 SODALES project.
Prof. Volker Jungnickel from HHI, who is a partner in the SODALES project, has helped co-author a white paper on “5G Radio Network Architectures” which has now been published in the RAS cluster website at the following URL:

The SODALES paper “The Role of Small Cells, Coordinated Multi-point and massive MIMO in 5G” by Volker Jungnickel and co-authors from the Heinrich Hertz Institut, Berlin, has been accepted for publication by the IEEE Communications Magazine in the May 2014 edition.
In SODALES, we have been quantifying the consequences of 5G for mobile backhaul evolution, and we have been developing probably the most flexible mobile backhaul solution discussed today. The paper is also a joint paper with colleagues from the FP7 project METIS, searching for a common understanding towards 5G.
The SODALES paper “A 60GHz, Linearly Polarised, 16dBi Coaxial Slot Array Antenna” written by Terry Quinlan and Prof. Stuart Walker at University of Essex will be presented at the Loughborough Antennas and Propagation Conference, taking place in the UK from 11-12, November 2013
SODALES has had a poster accepted for the Future Network and MobileSummit (FuNeMS) 2013 conference that will be taking place in Lisbon, Portugal 3rd-5th July 2013.
Our paper is entitled “Convergent optical-wireless network for ultra-high speed fixed and radio access”.
The authors are: Carlos Bock & Sergi Figuerola (i2CAT), Michael C. Parker & Stuart D. Walker (University of Essex), Victor Marques (Portugal Telecom Inovaçao), Volker Jungnickel & Kai Habel (Heinrich Hertz Institut), and David Levi (Ethernity Networks).
This provides an excellent opportunity for SODALES to showcase its innovative converged wireless-wireline access architecture at the European Commission-sponsored annual conference.
SODALES project partner Victor Marques (Portugal Telecom Inovaçao) has been invited to take part in a Panel Discussion on Fixed & Wireless Internet Architectures at the 4th European Summit on the Future Internet that is taking place in Aveiro, Portugal on 13-14 June 2013. Victor will also be presenting some initial results emerging from the SODALES project describing recent progress in the design of its ground-breaking active remote node (ARN)-based access architecture for converged wireless-optical high-speed broadband communications.
SODALES will be present the initial progress of the project at ICTON (15th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks), which will take place in Cartagena, Spain, June 23-27, 2013.
The paper that will be presented is entitled as follows:
C. Bock, S. Figuerola, M. C. Parker, S. D. Walker, V. Marques, V. Jungnickel, K. Habel, D. Levi;
“Convergent Radio and Fibre Architectures for High-Speed Access”
SODALES project is proud to announce its presence at the 11th FP7 Concertation Meeting on Future Networks (27th and 28th of February, Brussels). Given the scope of the project, it’s been invited to both RAS and CaON clusters meetings. Looking forward to meeting you there!
SODALES kick-off meeting took place in Barcelona on 19th November at i2CAT headquarters.
