The SODALES paper “The Role of Small Cells, Coordinated Multi-point and massive MIMO in 5G” by Volker Jungnickel and co-authors from the Heinrich Hertz Institut, Berlin, has been accepted for publication by the IEEE Communications Magazine in the May 2014 edition.

In SODALES, we have been quantifying the consequences of 5G for mobile backhaul evolution, and we have been developing probably the most flexible mobile backhaul solution discussed today. We have also recently identified a big gap between the huge market prices for current 100G equipment and what will be required to feed each 5G base station by 2020.
